Lifeguard Certification

Register for a Course

Carmel Swim Academy is proud to offer American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification and Recertification Courses.

CSA also offers Lifeguard Instructor Training. Details will be available closer to the classes being offered.

Participants will learn both in and out of the water during the course, and must meet the following requirements to register:

  • Be 15 years or older
  • Be able to swim 150 yards
  • Be able to retrieve a 10 pound brick from the bottom of the pool
  • Be able to tread water for two minutes
  • Complete a timed event within one minute and forty seconds that includes a 20-yard swim, surface diving to retrieve a ten-pound object from a deepth of seven to ten feet, return to the surface and swim the 20 yards back to the startign point on your back, while holding the onject at the surface and keeping your face at/above the water level.
  • Complete all online training by the end of the course (a link will be provided upon registration), and
  • Attend all in-person training sessions.

Upcoming course dates are as follows:

  • Recertification: Saturday, April 19, 9 AM-8 PM at Carmel High School
  • Full Certification: Friday, May 2 (5-8 PM), Saturday, May 3 and Sunday May 4 (9 AM-7 PM) at Carmel High School
