This month, we’d like to introduce you to Emma Kistler! Emma is a junior at Carmel High School and she hopes to study medicine. Emma works as a lifeguard and swim instructor for Carmel Swim Academy. We asked her a few questions so you could get to know her better.

How did you start working with the Carmel Swim Academy?
“I started working at CSA to help teach kids to like the water, and to make a positive impact on their swimming skills. I swam on the Carmel Swim Club for almost nine years, so swimming is something very important to me and it was a great opportunity to be able to give back to that community.”

How would you describe the culture at the Carmel Swim Academy?
“The culture at CSA is very positive and encouraging, and the staff is all very understanding, supportive, and collaborative.”

Why do you think swim lessons are important?”
I think swim lessons are important because I think everyone should know how to swim. It’s a great and healthy outlet where you can meet amazing people and also you can still swim later in life.”

What do you like about working at the Carmel Swim Academy?
“I like working at CSA because all of the staff are focused on the lessons and the kids and making sure that they have the skills they need and making a positive impact on the swimming community. It is also very rewarding to see swimmers progress and to see them becoming more comfortable in the water.”
